Gall Bladder Attack? - Gallbladder Message Board

I was wondering if this is what a gall bladder attack feels like.. i woke up at about 2 in the morning last week to extreme crushing pains in my upper abdomin and across to my back... it felt like i couldnt take deep breaths and that lasted for about an hour.. last night before i went to bed i had a dull ache in my back like right in the middle of my back like i was having a back ache and needed to get a massage or something then right before i was dozing off to sleep i started to get the same pains in my stomach again the only way to relieve even a bit of the pain was to put my hand up under my right breast and rub a bit.. this lasted from about 6 pm till about 7 am the next morning i had to sleep sitting up.. also im almost 8 months pregnant what can be done if this is what i am having at this stage in my pregnancy? i surely can't keep going with this kind of pain.. thanks any info will be greatly appreciated

Sounds like what I've heard gallbladder attacks described as. I never had any acute attacks, just chronic pain. However, I would advise you to see your doctor asap, since you are pregnant. They can diagnose gallstones with ultrasound, which is no problem for your baby. The only way to treat gallbladder is to remove it. I suppose that decision would be made depending on how bad symptoms are and whether or not you have a stone blocking a duct. That can be serious and require surgery right away. So definitely see your doctor, since it came on so quickly and you have the added issue of pregnancy. I hope you feel better soon!
