Right abdominal pain? Gallbladder? - Gallbladder Message Board

I have had right abdominal pain for several months. After eating rich, spicy, greasy, I get severe cramping and diarreha. I had a HIDA scan and the hours afterwards were awful, I had cramping and diarreha for over 24 hours and 2 days after the test I had severe chest pain and was taken to the hospital by ambulance. My scan came back normal but my symptoms keep getting worse. I am having an CT Scan tomorrow. Has anyone else had anything like this?

Have you had an ultrasound? Just because the HIDA scan came back normal doesn't mean that it isn't your gallbladder. The fact that you had pain with the scan seems to indicate that it might be a gallbladder problem. An ultrasound showing stones or other gallbladder disease would be a definitive diagnosis. Likewise, the CT scan should show these things. I hope that you find the cause of your problems soon. And if it is your gallbladder, don't worry about the surgery because it's really not bad at all. Let us know how the CT scan goes.

Hi there - sounds like it could be gall bladder. Back in 1996-97, I had 2 hida scans and 2 ultrasounds over the course of 10 months, and was told everything looked "normal". My doctor was convinced by my symptoms it was my gall bladder and sent me for a 2nd opinion who also confirmed she thought it was my GB. Finally, I had laproscopic surgery to remove the GB - no stones, but covered in scar tissue from repeated attacks and very inflamed. So much for "normal." Hang in there - the answers will come eventually.

With gal stones, you would have clay looking stool, from my friend's experience. I went through similar symptoms, but eventually gal stones were ruled out. The only advice I can give, which was given to me, is to eliminate the spicy, greasy foods and any other foods that cause pain.
