Question Any gallbladder sufferers without classic symptoms?

I've posted a few times now regarding stomach issues that began in Feb.. The most recent issue is constant nausea after fatty foods. I've been to my GP about it and he said since all the tests I've had are normal (stress test, ab u/s, scope), it's probably heartburn or IBS. I just can't bring myself to agree with his findings.

I've had yet another ,and probably the worst, episode of nausea so far. My husband made a lovely stir fry dinner and in the past I have not had any problems with this meal. That evening though...I actually considered going to the ER the nausea was so bad. It actually felt like some squeezing going on in there as well - almost like bad nausea with waves of really bad nausea. It dawned on me the next day that when my husband makes stir fry he usually coats the veggies with olive oil, which I do not do when I make it. I thought bingo! I decided to go to urgent care to see what a dr other t han my GP thought and again I was told it couldn't be gallbladder because I did not have the pain associated with gallbladder problems. I did mention that I had pain back in Feb, but now I get only nausea with some minor twinges in the right rib and back, left rib, and center back between shoulder blades. He seemed to think that if I didn't have the awful pain that goes with it, that I don't have a gallbladder problem. He gave me a prescription for reglan in case I have the nausea again. I've seen reglan mentioned here a couple of times and both of those mention how the side effects are worse than the symptom being treated. Has anyone experience with this drug? The dr said you take it before meals on an as needed basis. I ask...how does one know when it will be needed? Only if one purposely eats a high fat meal

My main question is: is there anyone with gallbladder problems but without the awful pain???

Other questions: is it possible to have had a stone that passed, causing the pain back in Feb, and it was gone, along with the pain, by the time they did the u/s in May/June? Can a person have only one stone or are there normally many?

I just hope at my Sept 8 appt, the GI will consider the gallbladder even if I do not have the classic pain, otherwise I do not know what I'm going to do

Did you have a Hida Scan? If the ultrasound showed no stones, the Hida Scan would be next to check for ejection rate for the gb. If the e/r is low, then you need to have it out. It won't get better. And not everyong has the pain. One of my friends never had anything but nausea...and hers almost ruptured before they figured out what it was. I had one large stone with a very damaged gb. Glad I had that baby out! Good luck.

Re: Any gallbladder sufferers without classic symptoms?

Thanks for responding Titchou and yvonne818461.

I'm pretty fed up with the drs I've been seeing, so I'm definitely going to ask for a HIDA scan when I see the GI dr. I'm tired of being afraid to eat stuff for fear of feeling ill and I'm tired of feeling ill! It's nice to hear that there have been others that do not have the classic symptoms - makes me know I'm not crazy :-)

Thanks again,
Joy

Hang in there. I had a constant pain in my right side and all my tests were negative for gallbladder. I found a doc who said the tests are not always right. I had my gallbladder removed last monday and my pain is gone. Saw the surgeon today he said the pathology report said my gallbladder was inflammed so we did good. I no longer have that pain just recovering from the surgery and incision sites.
Wish you the best.
