Blocked Bile Ducts - POST Gallbladder Removal?

I have had an ongoing condition for about 2 months now with constant nausea, bloating, malaise and other symptoms. I've been hospitalised twice, seen a GP 8 times, had blood, urine and stool samples tested as well as ultrasound and abdominal CT and an endoscopy.

The results so far only show an enlarged fatty liver and thyroid over activity so far.

In the last 24 hours I've been to see a gastro/heptoligist specialist who is requesting more tests.

One being a CT scan on my bile ducts, the other bloodwork looking for specific issues related to fatty liver (diabetes, lipdos etc).

I am just curious, since I had my gall bladder removed only 18 months ago, is it possible I can still have blockages of my bile ducts even with my gall bladder removed?

Re: Blocked Bile Ducts - POST Gallbladder Removal?

Cheers Harry, I suspected as much but wasn't completely sure. At the moment I have an inflamed liver which in itself makes me feel pretty ill, but it's not that bad such that I should be having such severe symptoms. Many people have fatty liver (which is what I've been told I have) and don't even know it, that's how light the symptoms can be. However, I've had some pretty severe symptoms which indicate I may have something else going on there which is why my specialist is considering this approach.

I almost wish they DO actually find a blockage there because I know that can be fixed relatively quickly, but I won't know for about another week and a half yet.

In the meantime, the symptoms are giving me living hell.... like many of us here, we just take it one day at a time.
