Can a gall bladder be saved?

I'm having some upper-torso aching, generally across the top of the torso (under the chest) with sometimes additional sensation in the middle. Also general abdominal pain, although of a lower level than the upper torso.

I suspect gall bladder. I'm already being treated for diverticulosis, so it may be that, or may not. But if it IS gall bladder, is there any way to save it? I don't love the idea of surgery. I'd rather keep my gall bladder. Are there rehab methods, either of the Western medicine kind or alternative medicine? I'd like to try those first.

Re: Can a gall bladder be saved?

You need to find out what the problem is first. If you have stones, you might can do a flush. They can come back though down the road. If it is an ejection rate issue or an infection/damage, then no, you can't help it and it needs to come out. Please take this seriously. A family friend died from a seriously diseased gallbladder.

Re: Can a gall bladder be saved?

I would like to know the same thing. If it's not diseased, rather disfunctional then i would try to save it with some meds or alternative methods first.

OK. I'm heading to urgent care now. I'll let you know what they say.

Do me a favor? I don't always trust doctors to make the right diagnosis. If this is indeed a gall bladder issue, I've been shined on about it twice. Please let me know what the symptoms of gall bladder infection are. I can read dry stuff on Google, I'm looking for real-life information.

Re: Can a gall bladder be saved?

I'm back from urgent care. Titchou, thanks for your concern.

I was tested for gall bladder and pancreatitis - both negative. Urgent care can't test for a hiatal hernia, that takes a specialist, so that's still a possibility, but it won't kill me anytime soon.

Doctor said he heard a lot of gas and said an x-ray confirmed it. (I am new to all this and have no way of knowing how he would know.) He doesn't know what is causing the gas, but it could be side effects from the Prevacid.

I got a whole lot of nothing from the visit, but among the nothings were, nothing life-threatening. So I'm reassured.
