Question Finally getting my gallbladder out, any positive stories out there?

I had been having this wierd feeling in my right side since last Christmas. I had the flu really bad and threw up a lot. After I got over the flu, the wierd feeling on my side didn't go away. I thought I pulled something from all the puking I had done.
Finally I went to see my doctor who ordered an ultrasound. The results came back that my gallbladder was fine. So, I still had this odd feeling on my right side, it felt very tight and it was annoying. Plus I had heartburn and nausea all the time. I went back to the doctor and he ordered a hida scan. The only thing I hated about the test was having to lie so stilll and have my arms strapped to my sides, I don't like that feeling!
I went and saw my doctor yesterday and he told me my gallbladder needs to come out. It is working at 13%. I have an appontment with the surgeon on Monday. I will be glad to get this over with. I am nauseated no matter what I eat now. I am really tired too. Has anyone else felt tired?
So, any advice you could offer would be great. I have read all the bad things that can happen, has anyone had a good experience?
Thanks!

Re: Finally getting my gallbladder out, any positive stories out there?

I have not had mine out yet but will on the 31st. I have heard a couple of people say they had no problems and felt better after. I think I will feel better just not being nauseated all of the time and the annoying pain in my side. I have also heard that people have lost weight which would not be a terrible side effect on my part. I am going into surgery with a positive attitude so only time will tell. It sounds like you will be relieved of a lot of pain and nausea too.

Hi Abby. You and I are in the same boat...no stones with poor ejection fraction, nausea, pain, and seeing the surgeon on Monday. I'm a teacher who'll be heading back to work soon, so I'm hoping surgery is sooner rather than later. Good luck.

I know I work for a school system so this is crunch time for us too. Fall is the busiest time of the year. I am so glad that it is a simpler operation than It used to be.

Re: Finally getting my gallbladder out, any positive stories out there?

I had my gallbladder out in April. I am happy that I did. I had no stones, but an ejection fraction of 9.5%. Hopefully the surgery will help you feel better. The recovery time wasn't really long. It did take me a couple of months to feel much better, but once I did, it made a huge imrovement. Good luck to all of you!!
