Gallbladder taken out 7 months ago Sour stomach, sickness GREEN stools
I has my GB taken out 7 months ago, since then my life has been a mess, i had burning diareah after surgery, had to see a GI Dr, giving a scope, told i had Gastritis, put on protonix for 3 months, still diareah and sour taste in my mouth all the time, then given Welchol and crafate (welchol 4 times a day-1 pill and same for carafate) still very green stools, pain comes and goes, the last 2 days have been semi OK no where near feeling normal, told in last 2 days to stop protonix as it maybe causing sour tase in my mouth and continue with welchol and carafate. WHY do i still feel sick, and have that funny taste in my mouth, just a sour/upset stomache feeling all the time, no more diareah at this time so thats a great start. Anyone have these same symptoms?

Hi Dallasirish! I and quite a few of us have the same type of symptoms after GB surgery. Scroll down the page and read the thread I started a few weeks ago called "Nausea, Diarrhea, Depression after Gallbladder Surgery". There are some real good posts there, especially from Miknan who is also young and going through post surgery problems.
I was wondering if the reason you had your gallbladder out was because of stones, or sludge and debris in your gallbladder? Did you loose a lot of weight and if so, are you able to put weight back on? The diarrhea is what is keeping me from gaining back the 40 lbs. I lost since my gallbladder first became sick back in March of this year.
I don't know about your medications so am going to look them up. I see a GI specialist on the 1st of August and they are talking about doing a scope. How long was yours done? Was it done after GB surgery?

I hope you are having a better day today. Sophie
My GB was taken out on Dec 26 this year due to a stone blocking the duct, had really bad pains that lasted for 4-5 hours a time. I lost 25lbs since my surgery and (was 190lbs, now holding around 170lbs) my scope was done 8 weeks ago and the gastritis i think was/is caused by the bile. What EVER i eat i feel sick/upset stomach feelings, i have been also prescribed .25mg Xanax, it does help, mostly chills me out, i cant believe this GB has so may side effects, i just want to feel NORMAL again... I would love a Dr to say take this and you'll be fine tomorrow...

I have since been able to eat anything i want, and NO DIAREAH, which is good, but i have a sour stomache and funny taste in my mouth all the time...I think my GI wants to put me back on Protonix or something else, if its the bile causing this discomfort which i think it is---what can i take on top of all these meds to make me feel NORMAL, to eliminate the bile and taste?

Hi Irish--Just a quick question: Do you eat a lot of milk products to help coat your stomach with it being acidy and upset? Usually if you eat a lot of dairy/milk products that can turn your stool green. Don't know if there's a connection for you, but was curious when I saw your post. God bless and take care--I'll say a prayer that this will stop for you. Hopeto--

Have you found something that helps the sour stomach yet? How have you been the last couple of days? I take a swig of Pepto every now and again and it seems to help my stomach, but for a very short time. I'm hoping you are having a good day. I'm trying to go through the day without nausea meds and it's hard but I'm tired of masking the symptoms and need to see how bad this can be. Take care, soph

Thanks for asking, i went tom my GI yesterday and he has put me back on a PPI this one is called Zegerid, i have only had 2 days so far (1 a day) and along with my welchol and carafate and the odd swig of Mylanta i seem OK for now, it flares up and then goes away after a few days or longer, its a really big pain, the Dr assures me it will get better but our bodies have to adjust and sometimes a year or so without that organ is what it will take and this happens to about 2 LUCKY %.

I had my lap-chole on 6-9-07. I occasionally have diahrrea (probably ever day to be honest) and am actually loving the thought of not re-gaining the weight since the surgery! But I really do not appreciate the burning diahrrea and green stools.
