Uncontrollable Bloating after Gall Bladder Surgery
(note: I understand that not everyone who has their gall bladder removed will experience these problems, but from my research enough people suffer from these symptoms to be alarmed...sadly, it seems medical professionals are unable to help these sufferers...this is real. I have witnessed this first hand, and have read countless posts from different forums/websites that I am convinced is only the tip of the iceberg.)
Observations:
1. There seem to be many individuals who mysteriously and uncontrollably bloat after having their gall bladders removed. Not everyone, but certainly enough to be alarmed.
2. Most all of these individuals use very similar words and phrases to describe what happened to them after having their gall bladders removed. This is what they are saying:
"It's like a basketball of water riding on my stomach"
"I'm bloated all the time"
"I can't lose this weight"
"My weight keeps going up"
"I'm dieting like crazy, nothing helps"
"I exercising all the time, why can't I lose this weight"
"I can gain a few pounds overnight after eating nothing but salad"
"I don't know what is causing this bloating"
"My legs, arms & chest are strong, I am not fat, I eat right, exercise more than I ever have before and still there's this constant bloating"
"The doctors can't help me"
"Diets don't work for me anymore"
"I can exercise all day everyday and it wouldn't help"
"I drink plenty of water, I eat sensible foods, it doesn't help"
"I stopped consuming alcohol/caffeine/refined sugars/junk food 'fill in the blank', and it doesn't help"
"My doctor says it can't be because my gall bladder was removed"
"My doctor tells me I just need to watch what I eat and exercize more"
"My doctor and many specialists have tested my thyroid and everything else and they tell me they can't find anything wrong with me."
"My doctor doesn't believe me"
"My doctor thinks I'm crazy"
"I've always been extremely fit/trim/healthy, now I'm gaining weight all the time and I can't get rid of it"
"I look like I'm pregnant!"
"Can't anyone help me?"
"I'm embarassed to go out in public"
"I'm afraid to eat in a restaruant"
I have more personal observations to share, but have to run for a scheduled meeting.
Are there others out there who want to join in a discussion about this problem & help each other out?
Re: Uncontrollable Bloating after Gall Bladder Surgery
Seriously, this is the first i have ever heard of this. I had mine out almost 3 years ago. Have several friends who have had theirs out. My mother had hers out. Not a word about this. The only bloating was just after surgery from the gas used to inflate the area for a lap procedure....and if they failed to stick to a non-fat diet. Wish I could shed some light on this but not my experience.
Re: Uncontrollable Bloating after Gall Bladder Surgery
Thanks Titchou,
I appreciate your response and I'm very glad to hear that you and several of your friends have not had to deal with the uncontrollable bloating and weight gain in the stomach after your gall bladder surgeries. Believe me, you should consider yourself very, very fortunate for this! I also know of someone else who had no problems after having her gall bladder removed.
I am hoping this thread will reach out to those that are having these problems and want to band together to help each other out since I know that the medical community has not been able to help them, and in many cases refuse to even acknowledge the problem is related to having their gall bladders removed at all.
I will check this thread from time to time...if you are going through this or know someone who is going through this, then let me know.
