Post gallbladder polyp

hi. i just got a report from the hospital of a sonogram that was done last week. I'm hoping someone can defipher it for me I had gone to the hospital because of chest pains. A stress test was done and besides a murmur, my heart was said to be fine.

I'll simply write the conclusions:

1) Thickening and edematous wall of the gallbladder (to 4.3 mm) with a small gallbladder polyp being shown with no cholelithiasis or definite choledocholithiasis (both being stones, i think) being seen. This is most consistent with secondary changes from the patient's reported hepatitis C.

Acalculus cholecystitis would be less likely, but cannot be excluded.

2) otherwise unremarkable abdominal ultrasound with non visualization of the pancreas.

<sigh>

(it was also noted that there was no pericholecystic fluid seen)

Thanks for any input!

Wes

Hi. I just wanted to add to my question that i never understood hcv would have an impact on my gallbladder (or any other organ...my doctor never told me anything in that order until speaking with an internist at the hospital and reading the sono report) like that. or could it possibly be trom the treatment?

Hi Wes 2112,~ great RUSH album. I am no expert, but it sounds like your Pancreas is fine and that great news. This is one organ that cant' be replaced. I believe a Polyp is a small growth, not un-normal, the doctors remove these to test for bad cell growth. That is what they do in colon exams at least, if my understanding of Polyp is correct. The "No pericholecystic fluid seen" the only part that sticks out that I see, is the cystic and not having any sounds good to me. It is not fuild anyhow and that may mean it is not growing.

hiya boonies. thanks for the reply!

I have a real curiosity about the care i have been getting here concerning side effects and secondary illnesses of this pegintron therapy.

i wrote a letter to the director of the clinic who told me they were in charge of my general health during pegintron therapy back in january. i think i even posted the letter to this board at the same time. i dont know if the letter was taken seriously or what, but there was no response to it.

All i know now is that my thinking is somewhat clearer since ending the tx, but my body hurts all over, and there is abnormalities in several different systems already.

I'm quite happy about the PCR results but, as THanbey keeps driving home, it was no emergency that i needed tx immediately to survive.

I am happy to feel more at ease knowing that the viral load is undetectable therefore a less likely chance of transmission from me to anyone else.

Of course i will always take the same precautions as if my viral load was high..

Thanks for your patronage, you great bunch of people!

Wes

my nurse called today. 8 days after the test.

she said the gallbladder problem was caused by hep C.

i asked her if she meant the tx, and she wasnt sure and just repeated that it was because of the HCV. does this sound normal?

does anybody think i should call an oncologist?

i have been reading that if a polyp is discovered because of symptoms, the patient is considered a likely candidate having it removed.
