Re: what foods to eat when there is a gallbladder polyp

Does it cause you to have symptoms like pain and nausea? If so, then I would stick to a no fat diet. I had my gallbladder removed due to polyps and inflammation and the few weeks before I was to have surgery, my dr. told me to treat mine like they were stones. No fat! In other words, no greasy foods like burgers, fries, fried chicken, chocolate, donuts, tacos, chips, etc.

If you search on Gallbladder Polyps at major sites you'll find a lot of information. Basically small polyps are pretty common and not much to worry about. When detected the Dr will probably recommend a followup test (maybe yearly) to check the size. If they grow beyond a certain size there's a higher risk for cancer complications.

Sometimes detection of multiple polyps can be a sign of the gallbladder being diseased, which can lead to vague symptoms like Nausea, Low Appetite, etc. If you already have those symptoms, the GB can be further tested with a HIDA Scan but in some folks, the problem is intermittant so it might not be caught on the day of the test. Usually doctors focus on other areas since the GB symptoms (without pain) are harder to prove so they rule everything else out first.

Oops, forgot to add, Eating healthy is a good idea regardless. Avoiding the bad fats (Trans, Saturated) is a start. Search major sites on Gallbladder Diet (the first link found usually) to get a detailed list.

Re: what foods to eat when there is a gallbladder polyp

Hi there,
I was just wondering how you are now? was the gallbladder surgery worth it? I have the same symptoms and am waiting to have mine removed. I am very worried about the side effects though.
Best wishes and God Bless!
