Gallbladder - questions about MRCP

I am all over this board but I am so worried and scared. I am having a MRCP from the Gasterologist I am seeing. He ordered this test because he thinks there was a stone left when they cut the tube after they removed my gallbladder. He said it happens 1 in 30 cases. He has seen it all the time and it sounds just like the symptoms I described to him which is nausau which comes and goes, belching, pain around waist right under rib cage and feels like a belt tightening, and I have episodes comes and goes. I have persistant pain where my gall bladder used to be but I can manage the pain. If this is the case then he would have to do a procedure that removes the stone. He told me I can continue my daily activities, lose some weight, exercise until these test are done.

I forgot to ask the doctor if I have stone left why didn't have to go to the emergency room like I hear other people do because they have so pain, why didn't it cause an infection. I have been like this 6 months now so why didn't it move anywhere, my pancritis test was normal and my liver test was normal. I heard so many people had to rushed to the hospital for this so could this be for me. I can still function in the day except for the nausau. I have taken acid reflux medicine and it doesn't work so it can't be gerd.

I am so confused and scared - has anyone been through this???

Re: Gallbladder - questions about MRCP

I have not been through what you are describing, but did want to put in a few words of encouragement.

If there were a total blockage, then the pancreas and liver tests would not come back normal. The fact that they came back normal is good news.

If it is just one stone left behind from the surgery that is bobbing up and down in the duct and partially blocking it, then it can be removed and issue resolved. A leftover stone is a better situation than having stones form in the ducts after surgery.

The nausea, belching are common gallbladder symptoms. Bile release from the gallbladder is supposed to be timed to assist with breakdown of fats and aid digestion. Without a gallbladder and with a stone partially blocking the way, bile is not entering the system when it should and vice versa. Questran /bile salts are frequently recommended to aid digestion.

Re: Gallbladder - questions about MRCP

hi
i have just had a mrcp test done and i'd like to reassure you that it is quick and painless and is done in a mri scanner. it takes about 10 minutes and they put a sort of belt round the upper right side of your abdomen then scan you. i had it done because i am having similar pains but not nausea and belching. my mrcp didn't show anything so i am going to have a laparoscopy done to see if i have adhesions causing a kink in my bowel. they found adhesions when they removed my gall bladder which they divided. i hope you manage to find an answer.

Re: Gallbladder - questions about MRCP

this is just mind boggling - I feel like they will take the xray MRCP find a big tumor or cancer and they wheel me off to emergency. I am frighten to death. I go to sleep and wish I could sleep all day because I can't face what will come next.

I am making this bigger than what it is. I can't help it though. This year has been pure torture on my mind. First the surgery of the gall bladder removed and then I kept getting sick with viruses during the winter and now this. I just want to rest and get my mind back on track. I am thinking the worst. My liver test, my pancritis test, h-ploria test, all came back normal. I am so tired of test!!!!! Just want this nightmare over with so I can go back to my life and live it.

I keep thinking I have something real serious and I am going to die. I am a nervous wreak! Someone please comfort me and tell me this is not cancer or something.
