Phantom pains after gall bladder removal? - Gallbladder Message Board

Hello!

I had my gall bladder removed in Jan of 07. Unfortunatley I had no health insurance at the time but I was told it was prudent to have it removed because it was so full of stones that i could of developed gangegreene? ON my liver ducts.

After a month of being home I had to go back because I was in incredible pain. Seems I had a stone lodged in my liver duct. Needless to say I was in the hospital for a week. I must of passed the stone or it disinegrated because the doctor told me to drink apple juice, and it disappeared when they went in with the camera.

Fast foward. Every 5 months or so I get the pain in my right quadrant. I have been back to doctors who takes urine and liver/kidney function test and blood work. Everything is normal. Its a dull throbbing pain. It makes my anxiety worse.

Has anyone ever had phanton pain after gall bladder removal?

Yes, this is vey common. I wouldn't worry about it if it's just a dull pain and is fleeting. Maybe cut back some on the fat in your diet will help as well.
