Foods to avoid with gallbladder disease/stones

What foods should be avoided - besides greasy - if gallstones or gallbladder disease is suspected. I've been dealing with what I thought was reflux all year, but a new doctor has diagnoised the problem as possible gallstones. Is dairy bad?

Any fat...that includes dairy, eggs, anything fried, salad dressings, olive oil based foods, fatty fish and meat, etc. The gb constricts to spew bile into the digestive system whenever fat is ingested. So fat is a huge no-no.

Re: Foods to avoid with gallbladder disease/stones

I can no longer eat, lettuce, tomatoes, fatty meat, dairy that isn't fat free, mustard, sugary foods, pancakes (even very low fat).

I essentially eat cereal, fat free milk, fat free cheese and egg beaters, almost fat free turkey meat sliced, fat free tortillas, and that's about it and I still have a miserable time. I started out eating rice (there is a whole grain rice that was working ok) and veggies like green beans but I can't stand the thought of ever eating a green bean again right now.

Re: Foods to avoid with gallbladder disease/stones

Oddly, some people have trouble with roughage (lettuce, cabbage, raw or slightly cooked veggies, green beans, etc) when having gb issues. I had trouble with it before and after the surgery. And sugary things can give you diarrhea anyway whether you are having gb problems or not...esp if they are bound to fats (cakes, cookies, etc)

Have you had your gallbladder removed?

No not yet. I was diagnosed in the ER and have a consult with a surgeon on the 23rd of this month.

Not to scare anyone but I got worse when I got my gallbladder removed - I still can't anything - I am eating the most bland food ever.

It is scary. Did you ask your Dr. why this has happened and what they can do to help you?

Re: Foods to avoid with gallbladder disease/stones

Gigi has other health issues as well that are complicating her situation. She is working on them but has not come to a resolution at this time.

I was a very healthy person before I had my gallbladder removed and never had one stomach problem in my life. I got my gallbladder removed and started to have all kinds of stomach problems. My symptoms were pain under right rib, indigestion, nausea, diarrehea, very tired all the time and belching. I went to doctor after doctor and specialist. I had numerous tests and they could find was mild non specific gastritis. No doctor had an answer and I know this was not in mind. So after reading on the internet and doing my own research I have found 3 things it could be:

gastritis

Sphintor of the oddi dyfunction (which can happen to some people after getting their gall bladder removed)

Post coloscopy Syndrome

I don't eat much anymore and because of all this my anxiety has come back. So everytime I eat I get pain and I have to control the pain because I don't want a ERCP which could make you very sick. It is so hard to live this way - I would rather suffer from migraines than stomach problems. I feel like a walking time bomb. No one can help you because doctors just assume your losing your mind because the test come back normal.
