Eating too much fiber with no gallbladder

I just don't know what to eat anymore?? I keep away from all fried foods and only eat organic fruit and veggies and some chicken.

I have no gallbladder and right now I am going through test to find out if I have sphinctor of the oddi dysfunction through a liver specialist. He thinks I don't have sphinctor of the oddi - he thinks I eat too fast, I eat too much fruit.

I was wondering because I am limited to what I can eat I tend to eat lots of fruit, breads, and fiber foods - So I don't know if there is a connection but some mornings I wake up and I have to go to the bathroom 4 times but it is not dirreahea. My stomach has spasm when this goes on and I get belching attacks. I take welchol for binding of the bile and I had a colonoscopy to check for IBS which I don't have. Does sphinctor of oddi do this?? My stools are normal color.

I eat two slices of dark bread in the morning. I have a cup of mangos for a snack, for lunch a half of sandwich, or a cup of soup, with some veggies, for another snack more fruit, and then dinner fish, chicken with veggies and more fruit. So could this be too much fiber?? Sometimes I will eat a whole mango.

Hey, Gigi! How have you been doing? I'm no expert but it seems strange that your doctor would be saying too much fiber would cause those problems. You've been having issues for like 2 years now if I remember correctly? I know normally people will have issues with bloating if they drastically increase fiber intake. If you normally consume a high amount anyway, and have done so for awhile, I don't see why it would bother you that much. I'm no expert though. I guess you could change your diet and see if that will help. I've had issues as well after my gallbladder removal and a friend of mine keeps telling me it's because I don't eat enough meat, grease, and sugar...haha! Maybe we would both feel better if we listened to her. Kidding!

this is the wild thing - I just went to my regular doctor to discuss my fatty liver and my high triglerides. My cholesterol is fine and I don't have diabetis. I am only eating organic and lean chicken. So she tells no white bread or other carbs and even suggest the atkins diet which is high in fat - ok fatty liver "hello" - I am supposed cut the fat. Then she suggest red meat - I haven't eaten red meat in 4 years and why would I start. Oh these doctors they are just a confusing mess.

So how are you doing and what symptoms have you had lately? I have been waking up for the past 3 morning going to the bathroom 3 or 4 times no direahea though and having mild tummy aches after I go to the bathroom . Do you have that problem??? I thought it was all the fiber I was eating.

Re: Eating too much fiber with no gallbladder

Gigi: weren't you diagnosed with gastritis a while back? I seem to recall that. Eating fruit is not good for that...maybe a little but not as much as you are eating. And it can cause the multiple bm's as well. Along with all the veggies - esp if they are leafy green ones and legumes.

They just said mild non specific gastritis but didn't say I have gastritis. Some people can get a multitude of stomach issues after having their gallbladder removed so I am one of them. Gosh just can't anything

Re: Eating too much fiber with no gallbladder

Well, mild non specific "gastritis" is still "gastritis." It just means a mild case without any known specific cause - not that you don't have it. Eating all that fruit isn't helping your situation.

How much can I eat in a day because no doctor has told me anything - could I eat a 1/2 cup a day?? Doesn't gastritis go away with time?? Right now I eat tiny small meals like oatmeal for breakfast (1 cup), for lunch a 1/2 cup of spinich and 1/2 cup of chicken cubes (I cooked organic chicken), for dinner 1/2 cup of veggies and chicken - for a snack 1/2 cup of fruit. Is that too much??? I cut alot of things out since my last post.

Re: Eating too much fiber with no gallbladder

I'd eliminate it all and then work back.
