Gallbladder pain years after gallbladder removal?

I had my gallbladder removed 3 or 4 years ago (can't remember) and I've had issues ever since. I didn't have pain when my gallbladder used to be until this past May. I was helping my husband lift something heavy (pool cover) and I felt somthing pop out of place and it took my breath away. This happened several times since then but I was told that it was just scar tissue and there was nothing I could do about it. Now I get a constant dull ache in the same area, for no reason at all.

Can scar tissue be a problem? Is there anything I can do about it?

I hate to go back to the doctor's b/c they didn't help me in the first place. I've had LOTS more problems after having the gallbladder removed then I had before. The doctor's were no help. I finally got help from acupuncture but this pain is something new.

I know one thing I can't do what I used to do anymore like lift anything and I get tired easy. When I get my dull ache in that area I used Tiger Balm and it helps - mine is due to fatty liver. From what I have read scar tissue can cause pain. I too have had so many problems since my gallbladder has been removed. I am just not the same.

Re: Gallbladder pain years after gallbladder removal?

I haven't been feeling too well after my gb removal either. It's a little over a year and I have been feeling weird for the past few months.

I dont have a pain, per se, I have a pressure feeling like there is something inflated in the gb area which goes across my stomach at times and at times rises to the chest area straight across.

I don't suffer from loose bowels. I am constipated. I'm very weird compared to all the stories re diarrhea after removal.

I also have achiness in my back and shoulders especially the right side which tingles and burns too.

I have not gone to a dr yet. I keep hoping it will go away like it came, but it doesn't seem to be doing that ...the weirdness that is.

I am very unhappy to say the least.

I have those strange pains or feelings too. I have found for me it is gas and sometimes it stays trap in my body and causes feelings of fullness or pain throughout my body. I had to end taking a acid reflux medicine to calm down some of the gas. The liver specialist I saw 3 months ago told me to stop eating alot of fruit and veggies because it will cause alot of gas with having no gallbladder. It has been scary sometimes because that inflated feeling and thinking I am having a heart attack but then a large belch comes out. My shoulder blades just ache at times. Maybe some fiber would help with the constipation.

Re: Gallbladder pain years after gallbladder removal?

Hello! I'm new to the board, and had my gallbladder out 6/11/2011. It was done on an emergency basis. I'd been having issues with it for the last 8 years, had the hida scan with ejection fraction and it was determined that my gallbladder was not functioning. No stones, but a lot of sludge. Had not had an attack for the last 7 years, but I did notice that I had constipation (actually it was stools that were dry or pasty and difficult to pass) Since my gallbladder removal 6/11, I have had absolutely normal bowl movements again! My surgeon told me that the pasty or dry stools were a sign of a badly functioning gallbladder. I can eat anything I want to now with no issues at all. Now, I do get gas once in a while and the surgeon told me to take Gas X (simethicone) It works wonders!! If you have the issue with gas, try it. I know that the gas can be painful and the Gas X really works to relieve the pressure and the pain in no time. Hope you try it and it works for you too.
