Strange HIDA scan happenings...can any interpret? Also need advice for here and now..
So when I had my HIDA scan, my gallbladder NEVER filled with the dye stuff....it just went straight through my intestines. What does this mean? My doctor is out of the office until next Tuesday, and the only reason that I'm asking for help understanding what this means right now is because I need advice - my pain has doubled since this morning (from a 4/10 to more like an 8/10) and I've been vomiting and nauseous...and I'm not sure if this may be something that I need to go to the ER for, or if it can wait until my appointment next Tuesday.
Thoughts?? Any help is appreciated. Thank you!

While I'm not sure about the HIDA scan results (my husbands went well and they took my gallbladder out this past Tuesday without doing one), I would definitely go to the ER if your pain is that bad, especially with the nausea and vomiting. A HIDA scan doesn't cause that. Good luck

Assuming you mean that you had the HIDA scan today and are now nauseous, this would not be unusual.
I'm thinking that most folks don't have a lot of pain or discomfort after the HIDA, I know I didn't, but we have had a number folks come onto this board and complain the the HIDA scan made them nauseous and sick which made their situation worse at least temporarily. Pain is the key, if it is too much and not going away a trip the to ER is appropriate.
If the gallbladder doesn't show up on the scan, it usually means a very low HIDA scan score and the need for surgery to remove the gallbladder.

The scan was actually three days ago, and you're right - it didn't make me feel nauseous at all. The pain has been there for awhile, but has increased significantly today :/

Just wonder if you manage to get an answer from the doctor about this finding on HIDA Scan with gallbladder not being able to fill up with dye ?
A couple of days ago I had the same experience, moreover, the radiologist came to see me and asked several times if I have had any abdominal surgeries in past, or if I ate anything this day...
Going to see my GI in two weeks.
