I also had an endoscopy. It was not bad at all. You're asleep and wake
Up and it' over. I had a sore throat but otherwise no discomfort. Good luck with yours. Don' t get discouraged. The hida scan was the last test I had even tho the dr. Didnt seem to think it was my gall bladder. I didn't Have any gallstones though.

Re: Is It My Gallbladder? Or Am I Going Mad? Help!

i got my referral to see a gastroenterologist which was an URGENT referral dated for the 26th APRIL! nearly 2 months away. i looked on the nhs appointment website and there was a cancellation for the 8th march...i took it instead!
im going to ask them about the hida scan as my gps (one was onhol so the other took over), dont seem to have an actual clue about it...just clutching at straws! i havent got the appointment for the endoscopy yet so ill be seeing the specialist first...hopefully he'll book the scan before the endoscopy. obv he knows more about it than my gps as he specialises in this and sees people with my symptoms everyday.

Jacy- what symptoms do you suffer with? and what treatment have you had/having?

Re: Is It My Gallbladder? Or Am I Going Mad? Help!

Hey hun.

So you're in the UK. That makes things a wee bit easier to explain. I am quite a bit further in the process than you are but there are a few things that you should be aware of. Bear in mind, this is all based on my experience so if anyone else from the UK responds, take that on board also.

Getting the HIDA test in the UK is nigh on impossible. There is a test they will offer which they will call a 'Fatty Meal Test' ( you have to buy your own Mars Bar for it and I wish I was kidding). If you do have a Consultant that gives the option of the proper HIDA test. Hold on to him and PM me his name. Lol!

You will have to jump through the many NHS diagnostic hoops. To date (my magical mystery tour started in January 2011), I have had more tests than I can count. These include CAT scans, Upper Endoscopy, EUS, labelled white blood scan, Doppler scan, Upper US, Pelvic US to name but a few.

The most important thing is that you can pick the hospital and consultant you see. I know you've taken a cancellation but if you are not happy with your treatment, go to your GP and get an appointment for another hospital if you can.

Finally, you know your body better than anyone. Do not get fobbed off.

Take care and I will now take step down from my soap box. Keep ypur chin up sweetheart,

Pixie xx

Re: Is It My Gallbladder? Or Am I Going Mad? Help!

My symptoms were nausea, uncomfortable pressure like a band of tightness across the upper abdomen and the right side of my back. The hida scan showed that my gallbladder was not functioning at all so I had gallbladder surgery.
