Overactive or Hyperactive Gallbladder Need Help Finding a Doctor in PA

Hi,

I really could use some help finding a doctor that has experience with Hyperkinetic Gallbladders in Bucks County PA or anywhere near Philadelphia. For the past four months Iíve been having digestive issues that seem to point to a possible issue with my gallbladder, I also have strong family history of gallbladder problem with both my fathers parents having it out. Iíve been through numerous tests and scans the only tests that came back abnormal (at least according to my own research) was the HIDA scan with a 96% ejection fraction rate and after the test I felt terrible. My GI doctor said he hasnít seen an ejection fraction that high but he though it was normal, he said the higher the better. I also had an ultrasound of the gallbladder that showed a couple of small what the doctor described as polyps or lesions. If anyone can point me in the right direction Iíd be very grateful.

Thanks,
Mike

Find a surgeon and have it out. Don't see where you need any more opinions.

Thanks for the reply, I've already thought about that but my insurance will not cover the procedure unless it's recommeded by a GI specialist. I've already spent a lot of money trying to figure out what this is I can't afford to pay out of pocket.

Well, I'd get a second opinion. That should only cost you a co-pay. Or can your PCP recommend it and insurance pay? I'd try that route too.

Re: Overactive or Hyperactive Gallbladder Need Help Finding a Doctor in PA

Iím at the end of my rope Iíve been sick for over six months. Iíve seen 4 family doctors, 3 GI doctors and 3 surgeons been through every test under the sun and still no resolution. As I mentioned in my first post the only test (according to my own research) that came back abnormal was the HIDA scan at 96% along with plops in the gallbladder according to the ultra sound. I discussed the possibility of an Overactive/Hyperkinetic/Hyperactive Gallbladder with each medical professional they all said there is no such thing and I should be glad my gallbladder works so well. My wife and I do have health insurance but both employers moved to Co-insurance with deductible plans, weíve spent well over $10,000 in the last 6 months, every visit and test is costing us hundreds or even thousands of dollars so I need to find a doctor who has experience with Overactive/Hyperkinetic/Hyperactive Gallbladders we canít afford to keep paying for no answers. Please if anyone knows a doctor near Bucks County, Philadelphia or Montgomery County please forward me their information. Iím getting very desperate, I canít go on like this much longer.

Re: Overactive or Hyperactive Gallbladder Need Help Finding a Doctor in PA

Hi Cabin91,

Sorry I wish I had some better news but I haven't been able to find anyone that thinks an overactive gallbladder is a real problem. After months of expensive test, countless doctors and fighting with insurance companies and no help I've given up, I'm just learning to deal with the issues I have. I have found eliminating all fatty foods and eating small meals does help keep my symptoms manageable. I hope you have better luck with this than I've had.
