My abdominal pain started in January, and it was accompanied by terrible bloating and belching, as well as alternations between constipation and diarrhea. My pain persists to this day but it's not constant. It manifests anywhere from an inch to the right of my bellybutton, the whole way to six inches to the right of my bellybutton (going into my side). Doctors were puzzled and I've had myriad tests done, including an upper endoscopy (clear for everything except gastritis, which my doctor didn't seem too concerned about) and ultrasounds. An ultrasound last month showed a contracted gallbladder with sludge, and possibly some stones. I'm due to get my HIDA scan on Monday and I have surgery scheduled for a week after that.
But doctors aren't really sure if the gallbladder is causing my pain or if something else is causing my pain and the gallbladder is just coincidentally acting up. I'm really worried about getting the surgery now and it making my lower abdominal problems worse.
So has anyone ever experienced similar pains with their bad gallbladders? Like I said, it's a pain about an inch to the right of my bellybutton and it can spread out to the side or stay localized. It feels like a muscle being pulled or something. I don't think that any one thing affects it more than others. It doesn't go higher than my bellybutton region. Anyone?
