Problem with a deep cut on my foot - General Health Message Board

I cut my foot a week ago it's a pretty large cut about 2 1/2 inches long 1/4 inch deep , 1/2 inch wide right above my ankle on my left foot. My foot is starting to swell & get numb. It will have a sudden pain in it. What do you think this could be? Possibly a cut nerve or something serious?

It sounds like a possible infection is forming in there.See your doc as soon as possible to try and head this off before it really takes hold.The sooner you get on some antibiotics the better.Marcia

Have you had a tetnus shot lattely? You need to have one plus it could be an infection. See your dr as soon as possible.

I agree, you need to see a doctor soon. It sounds as if you have an infection and if it is not cleared, it can go into your blood stream. This happened to my son. He just got a splinter in the bottom of his foot. He went to the ER and got it removed. About a week later, his foot started swelling and became painful. He had a red line going up his leg from the infection. Keflex cleared it up in 3 days.

It proabably needed stitches at one point but it is too late now. I agree with the rest, it does sound like an infection and it should be checked immediately.
