| Re: Swollen Finger joint
Hi,
I would say it's like a repetative strain injury....that area of the hand/finge/joint is taking the brunt of the load with what you're doing.
You might want to change the way you're sorting stuff, lifting, etc so that you can ease the load on that one area.
You might also consider trying a wrist/hand brace.....maybe one that is softer that gives the whole area support so that you can use it during working areas until it's doing better. Not one that is rigid. A rigid one is good for while resting/sleeping.
At night, try not to do things that will aggrevate the area. Maybe rest with ice for 10 minutes on 10 minutes off for an hour. That should help with swelling, etc.
If you see a chiropractor, an adjustment (or series of) might help, as well as ultrasound to get the area back into a healed state.
I can relate big time, and having a few ways of treating/preventing is a way to keep my joints/muscles in the working area from seizing and cramping (causing problems).
As well, anti-inflammatories could help reduce pain and swelling (aspirin, ibuprophen, naproxen) if you don't have any other contraindications with those meds.
