The sort of sensation I have is like when your finger goes to sleep say after you've been sleeping on it and it slowly come back to life, I get a sort of light pins and needles sensation as though it's cold, but it isn't actually cold, it just feel like it's trying to come back to life. I have no problem using the finger and the blood is getting to it, but it's just this weird sensation which is there all the time now.
Do an internet search for "carpal tunnel syndrome" and see if the little finger is involved. If so, that may be the cause of your problem. I forgot if my little pinky was involved or not when I had CTS surgery. Think it was.
Carpal tunnel involves the median nerve, which goes to the thumb and adjacent areas. The pinky is supplied by the ulnar nerve. Of course, the ulnar nerve can get compressed or damaged too, which would cause the symptoms you describe. Your doctor should be able to diagnose the problem or refer you to a neurologist.
This could be a problem with the ulnar nerve or could also indicate a possible problem up in the c spine area.the pinkie and ring fingers are innervated by the C 8 nerve at the lower end of the C spine.Just a little info to work with.Marcia
