hit by a car...

Today on my way to campus, I was in the crosswalk and this woman ran into me with her suv. I went to the er and have a sprained shoulder, and am still feeling quite shakey after everything... any advice?

Re: hit by a car...

It'll take a few days until that "shakey" feeling goes away at least from my experience. A few years ago I was hit and uninjured by a car while running. Just be relieved you're OK, keep an eye on the shoulder sprain that it doesn't worsen. Follow doctor orders and you should be fine! You just may be a little hesitant walking around campus from now on. Its a big shock to get over and believe it or not, probably harder for the driver to overcome than you.
Hope you're feeling calmer soon!

Re: hit by a car...

Thank god that you are ok because it could have been way worse. Its normal to be shaken up after that and you may have a fear walking on side walks or anywhere close to a road for sometime. You can go to special therapy classes to build up that confidence but I would wait it out for sometime to see how your fears play out. Keep us posted

Re: hit by a car...

My best advice to you would be to keep track of any new or odd pains sensations or swellings in any other areas.as the shock of this incident starts to wear off,you may start to see or feel other injuries that were not apparent right away. When our bodies go into shock after a sudden trama like you just experienced,it tends to make certain things not as noticable right away. This is a perfectly normal response.Hope you feel better soon.Marcia
