shoulder sprain

Well the other day I was hit by a car as I was crossing the street. The main thing that the er said was that I got a sprained shoulder. This was mid week last week and I am in more pain now than I was the night that it happened. I also notice that when I rotate it (as I was told to do at the er because my arm is also in a sling) well everytime I rotate it, the shoulder pops a lot. Is this normal?

Re: shoulder sprain

I was in a car accident and hurt my shoulder. I too had increased pain a few days later. No popping or anything like that, though. They went back and took more x-rays, but didn't find anything and eventually it go better. Since it's in a sling anyway, I would give it two weeks, then if it isn't better go see a doctor to get it checked again. Good luck.

Re: shoulder sprain

You also might need to get an MRI just to be certain there is no other damage to the soft tissues, ligaments or muscle.the popping just does not sound like it should be there.I would take a trip to your doc and see what he/she thinks you should do here.I really feel that an MRI is your best bet at this point to Dx whether there is more to your problem.Good luck, marcia

Re: shoulder sprain

I have a follow up on wednesday to check out the shoulder. I think I'm going to call my doc today too, because I didn't really sleep last night because of the pain...and now I notice that after it pops, my arm goes numb for a minute, then it burns.

Re: shoulder sprain

well I spoke to my gp and she said that it may be a pinched nerve and I have to go to a specialist. Is a pinched nerve worse than a sprain?
