Hi... I was a passenger in a car accident and ended up with a really nasty hematoma on the inside of my right calf. That was in April of 2001. To this day I have scar tissue and permanent damage to those veins. The scar tissue is obvious to the touch, and the whole area is still sore when it has pressure applied to it. It is even faintly visible, like a very very light bruise under the skin. The doctors told me if it didn't heal in a couple of years, it probably wasn't going to. I scar pretty easily anyway and always have, so I kind of expected it to happen. Unfortunately, there isn't much you can do about scar tissue. You can't really surgically remove it, because surgery creates more scar tissue. That's what I was told anyway!
