im 16, male and im a bit above 5'5". The thing is wat foods can i eat in order to grow taller. im in teh swim team at school, and we do a LOT of excersicing, does this effect on my hieght? what should my foods be?

however i hear lots of protein is good like in meats and a balanced diet including vegetables, so a bit of everything really but more focus on healthy foods.
some people have growth spurts at different points in their teenage years, often unexpected, just hold in there.
Most men can continue to grow until 21 years of age (or so I've always heard). Women usually stop around 18.
You're only 16. I know lots of guys who didn't really hit a growth spurt until 17 or 18.

I was on the high school swim team. You will grow more from that so no worries. You also will develop a very nice physique from it and your body frame will stay that way forever. I'm a chick and have broad shoulders and that benefits me.
The only thing that affects your height is genetics. You can't do something to alter how tall you're destined to be, so don't worry about it -- what will be will be.

u should be done growing around ur age 16 i havent grown since 15 and im 5 7 i could recommend u go to doctor and ask for hgh ( human growth harmone ) in extreme cases. Or if ur liftin weights at school smokin or drinkin it will stunt ur growth it depends alot on genetics
No, he is not done growing around 16. I hit a big growth spurt aroudn 16 and a year or two later got another small one and more are always expected until you hit your twenties. Don't worry about it, keep exercising, it keeps you healthy.
Do you know if your still growing? Good foods are milk and apples egg whites if your still growing. You could have growth hormone injections only way to really get taller. If your 16 I think your done growing but since your a guy maybe your still growing. Exercising does not really affect your growth weightlifting might I"M not sure.
They always say weightlifting stunts your browth but it is only a rumor and I do not feel it has any validity. At 16 you are NOT done growing, you still have a few more years left to grow. HGH will make you grow more, yes, but do you really want to grow more by injecting yourself with hormones?
I have an 18 year old son that was 5 2 at 17 and we had his growth hormones checked. He did receive injections but was told he probably wouldn't grow until he was 20. The doctor said that boys grow until 23 and up to 25 so there is plenty of time. Eat well and give your body the best advantage that you can. Hang in there and speak to your family doctor if you have great concern. It is hard to be patient and wait. They can take x-rays that tell your bone growth and tell you about where you are in your development and make sure you are on track.
It also depends on the genes your family carries....You are only 16 and may grow toller. I don't want to burse your bubble but you may not grow more either. I have been 5'10 since your age. I dont mind my height at all. I know you want to get taller but only your body knows how it will grow. The best thing is stay healthy like you are and dont go out to smoke, drink, ect. I smoked at your age and was 5'10 I have quite but I am still 5'10 at 22. I am not saying that stopped me from growing but its possibility.
Alot people done growing early I"M girl 5"10 or 5"11 been that height since 14 I"M 24 now I alway's wanted to be 6 foot But my height oh right guess. Most people I know done growing early. 50% men are shorter than 5"9 and 50% men are taller than 5"9. Your only 16 so maybe your still growing but 50% men are under 5"9 so maybe you might not get tall not every guy going to be tall.Some guy's grow intill 25 most guy's I know dont grow intill 25.
hey thanks guys, see im 5'6 now, not 5'5. i did see my self grow over the present year. but it was only like 1-2cm. i heard that swiming actually stimulates the pituary gland which helps u to grow. but im not sure. i dont really lift weights, but i do cardios like crunches and push ups. so i think by 17, i would get to 5'7.

As you see you are still growing only time will tell how much more but you will see when it happens. You still have more time but keep healthy and we'll see what happens.
As a poster before me said, it depends on your mother and father's genes. There's no diet,exercise or pill that will make you grow taller. Don't feel insecure about your height.
You aren't finished growing yet. So I wouldn't worry about it. My uncle was about 5'6 when he went into the Air Force and the next time we saw him he was 6'2. He was always the shortest one.
the only way weightlifting affects your growth is if you are doing heavy squats and powerlifts and stuff like that at too young of an age. all the bicep curls in the world arnt going to affect how tall you grow. its the lifts that but great strain on your entire body, especially your back, that can stunt your growth. if you preform the exercieses correctly, you'll be more than ok. you shoudl wait till you are at least 17 or 18 to do that kind of lifting though. even 19 or 20 if you are kinda scrawny.
