I'm a 16 year old female...I am always tired. I can sleep in on Saturday's and wake up and still feel really tired. Never once do I ever feel actually awake and ready to start the day. I exercise everyday. But when it comes to eating I don't eat much of vegetables...I do eat fairly well though. I used to take vitamins, but it never really helped. I would like to know whats wrong with me and why i'm always so exhausted. Please help! Thanks!
There is a thing as to much sleep, I know I can get 8-10hrs of sleep and I will wake up still tired. Your body should be use to a routine. You are going to school Im assuming. Your still tired after getting up for school then coming home?
How much sleep are you getting ina typical night? I have a job, go to class during the day 8am-2, then i work till 8 or 11...and im usually well awake after a good shower in the morning.
But i was like that at your age. All I wanted was sleep.
Well on school nights i will get atleast 7 or 8 hours of sleep...i'm just so tired, no one else seems to be like that, like my friends. In class its so hard to pay attention and my grades are slowly slipping due to the tiredness. I just wish I had more energy. It's like i'm drained..?
Have you ever been checked for anemia? You'd be suprised how many people go through life not knowing they have it, and think it's normal to be tired. Anemia is lack of iron, and less oxygen is getting carried in your blood which causes fatigue. I'm telling you, get that checked out!!!
Yes, I think you need your iron checked. It is a simple test with several capillary sticks filled with blood from your finger (a quick simple poke with a lancet from your 3rd or 4th digit finger). It is virtually painless and takes less than 10 minutes to get the result. I would highly recommend you do that as soon as possible.
The signs and symptoms of mono are sore throat, and swollen lymph glands (especially in the neck), and I know it is possible for possible signs of hepatitis is fatigue, but I think lack of iron is probably more feasible.
If she had mono, I think that she would know it. I had mono when I was her age and it was a bad illness. I was out of school for at least a week. Then I was tired also for a time. But, who knows, could be something to consider. What about depression? I've suffered from that and have gone through periods of extreme tiredness although I did not sleep as much as she has. Oh well, just some thoughts on this.
i'm not sure how much what i'm about to say relates to you, but i do have a problem with being tired 24/7, even just after a nice loong sleep. i have insomnia with a touch of sleep apnea. insomnia i doubt could be the cause for you, since you sleep an average of 8hours a night no problem. sleep apnea is when you stop breathing at night, and take in less air then is needed which can be the cause of day time sleepiness because you're not getting the proper amount of oxygen into your blood. the best way to find out if this is the problem is a sleep study (although they're incredibly annoying...). if you snore, it's a possible indicator of apnea. also, if you wake up with a very dry mouth.. as well as feeling like you hadn't really slept at all. like i said, i'm not sure how much this relates to you. but in my experience, the reason i'm so tired is because i basically don't breathe enough or well enough while asleep.. could be your problem, could not be. just an idea.
I've heard of that..but I can sleep and sleep and sleep..with out problems...I've actually been told by my mom i'm a sound sleeper. I don't know what is though, but on Saturday's when I sleep in, if my mom didn't wake me up I think I would seriously sleep all day. Thank you though for your help!
That could be it, I don't know though, I really need to get it checked out soon because it's so difficult to stay awake and pay attention in school and other activities.
ya, i have a big problem with it but because i have insomnia/sleep apnea. the only time i can sleep is from 3am to 10am. not very good if i have classes at 8am
itd be good to get this checked out. i know before my insomnia, i overslept a considerable amount. all i ever did was sleep, but i didn't feel tired as you do. it can be a number of things, possibly even just a mineral/vitamin intake diffeciency. it'd be best if you got it checked out. especially for being so young, you still should have tons of energy to do all the things someone your age should have no problem doing, such as staying awake, heh.
I think that you asked about the depression idea some posts back...I have not been on in a couple of days. Depression has many symptoms. Insomnia is typical of depression. It is in my case. I am very often wired at night and stay up till 2-3-4am or even all night. And I am tired a lot during the day. I suppose depression could cause you to sleep alot too...you need to consult a doctor for answers to this. Good luck!
Are you drinking enough water? Are you drinking a lot of coffee of soda? Are you maybe sleeping too long and it is that which is making you tired? Maybe you only need 6 hours and when you get 8 you feel tired.
