I don't eat alot of acidic foods though. Anyone else get these things? If so, how often do you get them and how many do you get at once? Gees! Also, for those of you that get them, do you sometimes have a funny taste in your mouth when you have these sores present?
I'm 40 years old and I've gotten canker sores for as long as I can remember. I've never found a correlation to anything I eat, or anything else. Sometimes I go months and don't get any. I usually only get 1 at a time, but I go through periods when it seems like when one is almost healed I get another one. I wish I had answers for you, but I'm still in the dark myself.
I also get canker sores. They come for no apparent reason. It's not anything I eat or a sickness, I just get them! I usually only get 1 or 2 at a time, never more. I've found that Zilactin works well for me. It tastes terrible when you first put it on but then the taste goes away. It provides a protective layer so you don't end up feeling it all day. Mine usually go away within 5 days and then another one might show up. I have no clue why!
My dear, departed mother used to say that I'd get canker sores if I didn't have regular bowel movements. I used to get them a lot when I was younger, and my son used to have them five at a time in his throat area.
Since I don't get them anymore, I haven't tried this "remedy," but I've been told by a couple of people that if you swish vinegar in your mouth (or gargle with it, if the sores are in your throat), the vinegar will more or less cauterize them and they'll heal.
