Belly Button Problems

This is the second time this has happened in the last couple months. At first I get a pain in my belly button accompanied with a rash around the inside and a puss-y [didn't realize when i typed it that the description of puss was also a bad word, haha] discharge. The pain is sharp, but only felt when thearea is touched or squeezed. Last time it happened the pain eventually went away and the discharge/rash stayed for a bit longer. I am continually getting stains on my shirt and a putrid odor with them. I tried using Hydrogen Peroxide to clean it out each day, and it foams up/cleans it well.. but the dischareg keeps coming back. What could this possibly be and why did it stay dormant for a month plus?

Re: Belly Button Problems

I'm not 100% but I beleive that there is a lymph gland at your belly button. I pierced mine when I was 18 and it took a good year to heal and I was told that it was because of the lymph gland. It sounds like an infection you may have. I wouldn't be too concerned but I would go and get it checked out.
Good Luck

Re: Belly Button Problems

Do you mean a vaginal-type discharge? If there is moisture trapped in the belly button you are going to get an odor and soreness. It needs to stay dry. You probably have a fungal infection in it right now. This happens to overweight people quite often. I suggest you use a triple-antibiotic cream/ointment to clear it up. Wash it first. Make sure to dry the area completely after every shower. Continue to use the cream for a while after it has cleared up (some may still be lurking in a crease and will come back). You must keep the area dry after that to avoid it from coming back.
