How long does phlebitis take to clear up?
I've been treated for a hand infection (cellulitis) with antibiotics which was apparently complicated by a case of phlebitis either secondary to the infection, or as a result of the bruising sustained in my fingertips after my 20 month old bit me. Anyway, I'm very pregnant, and pregnancy can do weird stuff to your circulation anyway. They thought I may have even at one point had a tiny blood clot in my hand from the location of the heat, red streaking, swelling, etc.
A couple days ago my fingertips started burning really badly and stingining. I got kind of worried until I realized the feeling was similar to that of circulation returning, like if you've come in with very cold hands and warmed them up quickly. I'd had cold fingertips through this whole ordeal, but ever since yesterday they haven't been cold anymore. However, I still have a couple spots at the base of my fingers that are still pretty sore to the touch and swollen. I'm not being treated at all except for with hot soaks.
Does anyone have any idea how long it will take to get better? I know phlebitis is usually in the legs. I haven't been able to find much at all online about phlebitis in the hands.
