How would you go about getting halitosis diagnosed? My mom and some friends have told me that I might have it but my dad can't smell it. So I wanna know for sure. Like sometimes I brush my teeth and then I breath on my friend and he says it still stinks even though I just brushed. I usually brush every day. Also what drugs are out there to treat Halitosis?

Sinus drainage can cause bad breath. Try irrigating sinuses with salt/baking soda solution. 1 c. boiled water, 1/2 teaspoon salt, 1/2 teaspoon baking soda, stir to dissolve, strain thru paper coffee filter, fill clean nasal spray bottles, COOL. Do not use until completely cool. At night and morning, irrigate by hanging head off bed, squirt solution into each nostril, sniff, turn head slowly side to side, get up saying "kkkkkk" to keep solution from running down throat. Do not blow nose until absolutely necessary, blot drips for a minute or two. Gently blow as needed. Salt is healing, baking soda deoderizes and is cleansing too. I am not a medical person but my internist has approved of using this solution.

Also gargle every morning and night with Cool Mint Listerin mixed with warm water. Listerin kills bacteria in the throat and tonsil area.

Another cause of bad breath can be infected tonsils and/or food trapped behind tonsils.

The leading cause to bad breath is the tounge. You are supposed to scrub your tougne with your toothbrush like you would your teeth. That solved my problem.

This is true, Try gargling, brushing your theeth (gums) AND brushing your tounge with Hydogen Peroxide - it's totally safe and kills the bacteria which cause bad breath - after a while you can even get your tounge pink again...... It's also great for stopping gum disease.......

You can get a big bottle in your Grocery Stores pharmacy for a dollar... (it ALWAYS comes in a brown bottle) - it foams white as you brush but is totally harmless.....
