yellow layer on elbow ebrasion

This past friday I fell on asphalt and scraped up my elbow pretty bad. I have been treating it with neosporin in such. This morning the cut (which isnt deep just some road rash) has developed a small yellowish soft like scab. Is this an infection? Should I continue to constantly clean it and apply neosporin? I dont feel sick or anything. The area is just tender and annoying since i feel it everytime I bend my elbow. Anyone have any suggestions?

The scab will form like that if you keep it moist with ointment.
I think it will heal faster if you let it dry up like a regular scab. It doesn't really sound infected; and will be sore, as you scraped the skin off of yourself!

Re: yellow layer on elbow ebrasion

Thanks for the responce. I went for a walk in the brisk windy weather today and it dried up a lot. It does't look as bad when its dried, just like a discolored scab with some wrinkles in it. So would you suggest I dont put any more neosporin and bad aides on it?

If I were you, I'd just leave it in the open air to dry out. I wouldn't put anything on it.

Some people, like myself are allergic to neosporin. Every time I've used it, it makes things worse - gets all oozy, itchy and I've even gotten an infection from it.
