Yellow Tongue??? - General Health Message Board

Hi.

Just a quick question; my wife has a coat of yellow on her tongue, and we're not sure what is wrong! We don't think it's jaundice or anything, because she can brush it off (just like if you were sucking on a yellow lollipop). (We presume that jaundice would actually discolour the pigment of the cells, and that one wouldn't be able to brush it off)

This yellow colouring is mostly on the back and at the sides of her tongue, and doesn't seem to be accompanied by any other symptoms... does anyone have an idea of what it might be? She just had a miscarriage before this started, in case that might have anything to do with it...

Any advice or help would be appreciated!

She could possibly have a type of yeast infection in her mouth. Usually thrush is white but it can vary in discolorations. I would have her go to the doctor to have a culture done and HAVE HER THROW AWAY HER TOOTHBRUSH.

Does she have a cold? Allergies? Stomach problems? All that could cause a yellow coating - not to mention bad breath (duh, the yellow will cause bad breath, bad breath won't cause the yellow I mean)

I agree with angelwings I think it is probably yeast "thrush".

Sometimes certain medications can cause a coating on the tongue. Is she taking anything different?
