Unhappy Back from ER for the dizziness...

I was wondering if anyone else had this situation? My husband took me to the ER last night because I have been having dizziness/lightheadedness for 10 days. Yesterday was the worst. I went to the ER and they took blood and did some tests and did a CATscan ....EVERYTHING CAME BACK NORMAL! No high or low blood sugar, no high cholesterol, no backed up sinuses, no diabetes, I'm not anemic, no tumors (however they want me to followup with my doctor to get an MRI done)...all the blood tests came back normal (they said my white cell count was a little high but they weren't worried about that) and the CT came back normal....

SO WHY AM I STILL FEELING LIGHTHEADED???

My husband and I agreed that I am going off the herbal stuff for now, including the vitamins. It seems that the lightheadedness started the day after I started taking the multi-vitamin. Could be a coincidence, but my husband said I should go off everything...including the vitamins...stay off of it for the week and see what happens.

My period came on Saturday after not having it for 2-1/2 months and it is tremendously heavy. They did a pregnancy test on me just to make sure...it was negative. But this period is heavier than ever. I would assume because I haven't had it for 2 -1/2 months...

Does anyone have any suggestions??? of why I am still lightheaded??

Re: Back from ER for the dizziness...

Your husband is right to insist you stop taking all supplements and see if that makes a difference especially since you started taking herbs, etc.

Some herbs are not compatible with other things. Some side affects of herbs can cause many things.

I found out that taking Vitamin E 800 IU for many years was causing the restless legs syndrome. Later found that Vitamin in the multi-vitamin pill had built up and was causing me to feel bad. stopping the Vitamine E and years later stopping the Vitamin A solved the mystery and misery.

Light head or dizziness can be caused by bloodpressure dropping too lown when standing up. This may hang on from movement to movement during the day. Check your bloodpressure while still in bed, stand up for 1 minute and take BP, take BP again in 5 minutes. You may find the BP drops too low after standing. To solve this, rise slowly, stand for a minute before walking. Actually after raising up to a sit on side of bed, with feet on floor, raise heels up and down with toes remaining on floor. This acts as a pump to pump blood from legs up to the brain. My hypertension specialist told me to do this. Over a period of time the problem resolved.

Not breathing properly will also cause lighthead/dizziness. You may have become a "hidden hyperventilater", that is, you are blowing off too much carbon dioxide when you exhale and you are not aware of doing this and others do not notice it. Take deep breaths with tummy going out and in rather than shoulders going up and down, then very slow exhales. This will help balance the oxygen and carbon dioxide which is needed for the red carpusles to release oxygen to vital organs. Rebreathing in a paper sack also works well for this. I had to do this 5 mins every hour for 3 months and then taper off to 4 or 5 time a day or when needed. After 5 years I am still using the paper sack off and on, not as often as a preventive and ability to maintain proper balance of oxygen and carbon dioxide.

Re: Back from ER for the dizziness...

Just a thought, but myself & lots of friends going through menopause/perimenopause also have the dizzy feelings going on. Could be hormonal. May want to check with your gyno to see if that has started. Lots of odd symptoms with menopause that aren't well publicized. Did they check you for vertigo or labyrinthitis (inner ear problems)? That usually causes bad spinning sensations though, with nausea. Hope you feel better.
