| Re: Thumb pains
Hi,
Try physical therapy, ultrasound, chiropractics, accupressure or accupuncture. ARe you using text messaging on your cell phone a lot?
The suggestion of using a lighter grip when writing or drawing is a good one.....add to it a much thicker pen or pencil (Dr Grip has a few available at stationary stores).
You might also consider how you sleep (position of your hand), computer mouse, sitting position, driving positions...etc. It's all activities, not just writing and drawing.
Check out Repetative Strain Injury and see what exercises are available. Do not overdo any exercises..they will work against the healing process.
I have RSI from doing hair, sign language and computer use. I use hand braces on occasion when sleeping. I've also done physical therapy, ultra sound, accupuncture and chiropractics. They will all work...
Aspirin will help with inflammation, but don't do a steady dose of it.
Hope you get better soon.
