Hearing loss after exposure to noise 5 days ago

Hello,

5 nights ago, I fell asleep with a radio playing loud static. After that I had some ear pain, and my hearing still seems not back to normal. Does anyone know what is the longest time for my hearing to come back, or is this permanent? Please help, thank you.

Sonia

im no doctor and know nothing about hearing, but perhaps the radio playing all night may have created a buildup of earwax and thats affecting your hearing, also maybe you have an earache or infection. its probably best to see a doctor about it to be on the safe side.
also if you go clubbing or gigging or frequent somewhere that plays loud music that might be a factor..

Loud noises can cause a loss of hearing, over a progressive period of time with repeated exposure to loud noise. It is doubtful that this one incident has caused you permanent hearing loss.

Other things you may want to ask yourself, is if you have allergies, upper head congestion ? Are you at all stuffy nosed? Anything that may cause pressure in your ears and any fluid this all can cause you to feel "blocked" up with your hearing.

To ease your concern if it persists I would suggest visiting your general physician and having them check your ears. You could have excessive wax build up, an ear infection, head congestion, or even water in your ears trapped after a shower or bath. Many of these things could be at play here. So just have it checked out to be safe.

I used to work in a hearing clinic and we saw many patients that came in, who had hearing loss after years of working in factories before they were aware that hearing protection was needed. And Iam sure in years to come there will be more patients that come in, because as teenagers for years they were exposed to loud radios. But its not something that will typically hapen in ona one time exposure.

Things that could cause that, would possibly be, a gun going off right next to the ear, or extremely loud noises, explosives etc. A loud radio is not entirely likely to do that.

Good luck and I am sure you have very little if not nothing to worry over!
