blue cross blue shield in Tennessee:
Smoking Female, age 30 with panic anxiety disorder (plan H2) for me = $268.00 monthly with a $500 deductible. The plan pays 80% and you pay 20% of med costs plus $20.00 co pay. (by the way, I stopped smoking a couple months ago but you must be smoke free for 12 months to get a better rate for this plan.
---
Same plan as above (H2) for NON smoking female = $178.00 montlhy.

2nd quote:
Smoking female age 30/panic anxiety disorder (don't remember the plan code #)= $178 with $1,000 yearly deductible plus 20% of the next $5,000 in medical costs after that it pays everything except for $30 co pay.
------
Same plan as above for NON smoking female age 30 = $133.00 monthly.

They have a LOT of plans now. One great plan for people WITHOUT mental health disorders which it don't cover is the new savings account plans! For example; it pays for all your regular yearly check ups, preventave care & say you have a yearly deductible of $1,700 & a monthly payment of $130. IF you don't end up having to go to the ER or have to get something done out side of regular check up's or preventave care then the $1,700 deductible goes into a savings account for you which you can either spend as you like OR keep it in there and let it roll over year to year to cover your yearly deductible. You can get a plan with a lower deductible but your payment will be higher so, if you go into one of the savings plan coverages then go for the highest deductible you can possibly afford/pay off in one year because in the long run you'll save BIG TIME. Your monthly payment will be very low & you can use the deductible to roll over and pay for the next year as long you don't end up needing something done besides check up's and preventative care. in which case if the cost of that visit is lower than the deductible you'll only have to replace that amount into the account. If it's over then you're covered either way but will have to repay the deductible again the next year & the process starts over.
Insurance is much cheaper for men so, if you're a NON smoking male you're going to get the best rate no matter what. I've checked into a lot of different insurance providers & blue cross blue shield seems to be the best coverage/plan/rate wise. If you have a sickness such as heart problems, STD, Ulcer, etc, etc.. then it will not be covered for 12 months after your 1st day of coverage & will make your monthly payment much higher. In some cases the insurance company might even send you a rider saying that what ever illness you have will never be covered for the life of your insurance plan so, it's best to get insurance while you're in good health. I should be getting coverage on the 13th of this month, I HOPE before anything else happens to me & I pray they'll let my panic anxiety be covered in the 12 months & not screw me out of being covered for it! They will want YOU to provide copies of your medical records which you'll get from all the doctors you've seen for the last 1 to 3 years or so.. So, be honest in your application because they will know everything & might let you pay for coverage then screw you when it comes time for THEM to pay because you lied on your application to get a better rate which makes your contract VOID.
Look in your phone book & check with the bigger insurance providers first.
By the way, I called blue cross blue shield & got the VERY high rate quoted so, I later called a sub contractor for that insurance company and got quoted $100 LESS per month for the same plan!!! It's good to try and get a few quotes for each insurance company you call.
Good luck
