Weird feeling in throat! - General Health Message Board

I seem to have a weird feeling in my throat. It feels like there is a lump or something. It might be swollen but i have not got anything stuck there.

Any suggestions as to relieving this?

PS. It only seems to come on when i think about it, but its very hard not to think about it when its happening.

go to the doctor NOW if its nothing its nothing ,but to much important stuff is in that area to wait

Does it hurt LESS when you swallow? If so then it's more than likely an esophageal spasm. It'll go away in a day or 3. This can happen from any sort of strain such as twisting your neck or tongue, vomiting or yelling. It can also happen from stress.

I have the same thing now. I've had it for about 4 days. It feels like I have phlem in my throat or something. It doesn't "hurt", just feels funny. Could it be some kind of allergy or something? I have heard that this feeling can be caused by stress.

As long as you can breathe and swallow alright, it's most likely one of 2 things. one it's "globus" from stress/anxiety - I had it for months and months. The other is an irritation from GERD (acid reflux) - if it's the latter, medication can help it.
