life insurance exam revealed protein in urine. i had take a hydrocodone pill earlier in the day...would that affect test results?

No.But this does need much further testing to determine just why you have protien in your urine.You could have some sort of underlying kidney problem that has not showed itself yet.I would see your primary doc for some followup bloodwork.He will draw some blood and send it for tests on your liver and kidneys to see if anything is out of range.and possibly after that, an ultrasound on your kidneys to actually see if there is anything wrong.Please keep me posted.You really DO need to find this out.FB

i am a diabetic. i am tested once a year for proteins in the urine. you might want mention this to your dr. there's a simple blood test that monitors your glucose level for the past couple of months. are you diabetic and have you ever been tested for it?

i'm not diabetic however have not been feeling well lately. chronic diarhea, joint pain, fatigue, sore throat. have retested with my insurance company and waiting for results before i call my family doctor. hopeful the test was a fluke.

i don't understand my report.
white blood cells: 5/hpf
protein 52mg%
protein/creatinine ratio: .3

i don't know how to compare those levels with what is considered normal.

Here are normal values in comparison:
White blood cells: <5/HPF (yours is right on the high side of normal)
Protein: <30 mg/dl
Protein/Creatinine ratio: <3 for non-pregnant adults or <30mg/mmol for pregnant women.

Your joint pain itself would cause these minor elevations in your urine values here. Your values are not serious but your symptoms need to be evaluated until you are diagnosed so you can be treated. Keep in mind also that menstruating women will show protein in their urine as well. Have you been tested for mono or strep throat?
