Strange sudden brusing after blood taken from artery - General Health Message Board

I had an Arterial Blood Gas test performed a little over 24 hours ago. A couple hours ago I was working on my computer and I hit my wrist basically right where the puncture was, and it immediately bruised. Should I be concerned, since it's an artery, or is it nothing to worry about?

Bruises are normal after getting blood taken.

The area may "appear" to get larger over the next day or two,but in most cases it is not actually actively bleeding,it is just gravity pulling it all downward.This should all dissipate in about a week.Unless you see more active bleeding, you should be fine.You most likely just popped a little blod clot that formed under the skin,nothing major.FB
