I have heard that about the vinegar before, and it may work, but you won't catch me trying it out! I have taken it before in the past for it's many benefits, and the taste did not bother me. But for reflux, nope! Far too acidic. If you have a "mechanical" problem with your esophagus you are adding fuel to the fire.
Aloe, yes. Heard it is very soothing.
And yes, antacids will backfire on you if you keep taking them. It's best to find out WHY you are having the reflux, then work on it. The reasons are many, including eating habits, diet, and problems with the esophagus relaxing too much causing acid to back up into from the stomach. If that is the case, it does not matter if you only have normal amounts of acid in your stomach, it will irritate, burn and damage your esophagus. Acid belongs in your stomach, and not in your throat.
Most Dr.'s will just give you meds for it without finding out why you have it in the first place.
The meds for it are expensive yes, but work very well for many people, who otherwise cannot get rid of it.
