| Kind of worried
Hello all and thank you for taking the time to read this post. Hmm, where to begin. I went abroad for 5 months and during that course of time had some strange symptoms crop up. It began when I was in Italy, while I was touring St. Patricks Church. I became incredibley hot and dizzy and nauseous. However, the next day I felt markedly better and didn't give it too much thought, though I felt pretty "withdrawn" afterwards (I'm an extravert, but wasn't sociable at all). When I returned to Germany, where I was studying, I had a sinus like infection. I took some anti-decongestion medication and it subsided after 2 weeks. After that I was seemingly really tired and lethargic. It didn't matter how long I slept (i.e. 8, 10, 12 hrs), I would always feel tired. I also began to be... not quite dizzy... but more disoriented (hard to explain). Another strange thing that occurred while I was there (don't know if this is related) is I became suddenly tingly all over my entire body. Anyways, I tried to go to a doctor there but due to insane amounts of Bureaucracy I was unable to secure a place. So I let it fly, figured maybe I was depressed or just manifesting things in my mind (gets kinda lonely in a foreign country, ya know?). Oh, also, one more strange thing, I would drink the smallest amount of alcohol and the effects would be exaggerated in proportion to the amount I drunk. I would have a headache while I drank it as well (not sure if that is relevant). Why did you drink it you ask? You try tell Germans you don't want some beer : )! Anyways, I finally survived and made it home, where I nearly immediately started college again. Here's the problem, since I've been here I've had: 1. trouble concentrating 2. Memory problems (can't remember where I parked, having to read words over and over again to remember what they mean) 3. cognitive problems with problem solving 4. weird pressure over my eyes by my sinuses (I have almost a tick now, I tap them so much) 5. Ear aches and weird cold flashes in ears 6. Trouble saying what I mean and forgetting words 7. Missing some of the more subtle social interaction (i.e. sarcasm) 8. Overall disconnected and "slower." 9. Spelling was never a problem, but is becoming so. 10. Used to be almost calculator like in my ability to do arithmetic manipulation, that is also markedly more dragged out.
Anyways, I'm balancing two majors right now so I don't have too much time to afford to this, but it pervades every facet of my life and am finding it increasingly more difficult to compartmentalize away. I'm getting blood work done this Friday in hopes to weed out some possibilties. Any thoughts?
P.S. brevity is another apparent deficit of mine. ; ) hehe.
