Cure for a sensitive gag relfex?

Yes, I know it sounds silly, but is there any way for me to make my gag reflex a little more...well...flexible? I'm especially not fond of going to my doctor for any sort of check-up and I begin dry heaving when they use a tongue depresser.

Any thoughts on how to cure this condition? If anyone is wondering, I am aspiring to become a sword swallower and I don't want my death certificate to read "choked on a sword"

ive never heard of this as being a 'condition' its a reflex...i dont think there is anything you can do, it's something that comes 'natural'

Chloroseptic spray works okay. It numbs the back of your throat some. There really isn't anything that really works. Sometimes the spray works and some times it don't!

Re: Cure for a sensitive gag relfex?

Funny you should meantion this. I used to have a super sensitive gag reflex. I mean, it was BAD! I would wake up in the am and just start gagging because of the taste in my mouth. I had to have gum or candy next to my bed and popped something into my mouth right away.
Everytime I brushed my teeth, I would gag. Etc. etc.....
I've been going to a wellness Dr. who does kiniesology and he's been working on me with other stuff (not the gag thing at all) and I haven't had the gag problem now for about 6 months. I just never thought about it til now
So, I don't know what to tell you. Just my experience.
