What is wrong with me?!!!

okay this is rather long winded but I would appreciate it if you bear with me. I am 25 and have only ever been susceptible to colds etc in the past but I recently turned 25 and am suddenly experiencing all manner of problems.

1. Over the past year or so have experienced lower back pain, mild and severe. I have read a few articles which say it is nothing serious, however I am concerned about the fact that when I sneeze it causes a massive pain, almost spasm if you like, to the affected area. Every gp I have visited has just said that all I need to do is these stupid exercises but I have been doing them for 6 months with no progress. So far the pain comes when lying on my front, running, touching my toes, and like I mentioned sneezing, which causes the most pain.

more recently though I have been concerned that I started to experience shooting pains down from my bum along back of my thighs.
Also sometimes like my neck muslces will cramp up if my head has been turned for a long time(playing playstation)and this really freaks me out. although at least i know what not to do!

If any other people experiencing back pain could shed any light that would be great. maybe you experienced the sneezing thing.

2. Getting headaches and flashing lights (blindspots), feeling sick, strange light headed sensation, dizzyness, muscle cramps for no apparent reason. I suppose it kind of feels like what it used to feel like when I came off a whiteknuckle rollercoaster ride like nemesis. (I used to hate them as a teenager and my friends used to laugh at me for doing so!).
These conditions I have no understanding why I am experiencing them so any light on the matter would be appreciated thanks.

3. Having a penis that bends when soft. I know there is a disease called peyronies disease that describes the penis bent when erect. Like I said though it isnt that...it bends when not erect. This means when going to the toilet to urinate I have to stand diagonally or else it would miss the bowl. I dont think this is peyronies as that mentiones erect but if anyone could shed any light that would be great thanks.

4. I get numbness and coldness in my fingertips and toes around winter time and complexion goes very white. I mean I am quite pale anyway but it is enhanced around wintertime. I always have to use the heating at home but my father always saying that when he was a kid there was no central heating blah blah blah...

5. I also recently have been experiencing flakiness on the skin around my face, expecially forehead. I also shaved my head recently as a laugh with mates one day but what i revealed i didnt expect....my whole scalp was covered with flakiness. I was told by gp that it wasnt even mild eczema and have used various creams in the past and it did go away but now it has flared up again. He did say that if it was mild eczema that he couldnt give an explanation as it is one of those conditions that doctors don't know how or why it appears then disappears. I find this a very unproffessional thing to say unless it is true? There must be an answer to everything?

Am I using the wrong shampoo, too much wax/gel on hair, dust mites in the air? If you could shed any light that would be great.

okay I know it's long but thank you in advance for any replies.

My back hurts all the time when I sneeze, but for me it's because I had back surgery in February.

Your neck pain is only from it being in the same position for long periods of time when playing play station. This is nothing to be freaked out about, it's very normal.

But with your back, have you had any type of injury from a fall or anything before you noticed the pain?

I had the same thing growing up, but I also passed out and had seizures. Doctors didn't know what it was and it just went away on its own.

I had a boyfriend that had the same thing and with him it was caused by an old hockey injury. Talk to your doctor.

Sounds very normal to me. I've had the same thing and know many people that have too.

Sounds like just plain old dry scalp. Get a shampoo and conditioner with a moisturizer in it.

Re: What is wrong with me?!!!

no. no fall or anything. I do remember doing a quite strenous workout in the gym one night (no fall or accident though) then feeling pains all over the day after (which is quite normal). But when I mentioned that to the doctor he said he couldnt see it being that and his explanation was that a) 25 year olds have a greater chance of developing back problem and for no reason b) more likely genetic c) could be sloping or bad posture

Re: What is wrong with me?!!!

ah so someone else experiences back pain from sneezing. However my gp says that I shouldnt be experiencing pain from sneezing as it has no relation to the back in the physics of what happens at the time, plus he said he has never heard anyone say that anyway. I asked him for a ct or mri scan whatever it is called but he said i didnt need 1. But I know something is wrong cause i run like a bloody hunchback and can't sneeze without preparing for the pain.!

When people with sore backs sneeze it's very normal for the sneeze to cause it more pain, because when you sneeze your whole body can move with the sneeze and cause pain in an already sore area. If you are worried about it I'd suggest getting a second opinion.

I've had back problems for as long as I can remember. I miss always sore in high school and spent a lot of time home from school sick or to sore to go. I had pain in my back for so long we finally had a doctor check me out. Found out I had scoliosis. Started going to a chiropractor and hated it. He caused me more pain then anything else. My back pain got worse and there didn't seem to be anything to do about it. I started taking pain meds and tried to deal with and I couldn't handle it. Went to a different doctor and she sent me for x-rays and an mri. I never got anything back with any results and continued on with the pain. One day I started getting chest pain really bad and was sent to a specialist. He wanted to see any chest x-rays I had done in the past. So I picked up all my x-rays they also put in the back x-rays. That was when I found out (on my own) that I had something called Spondylolysis and Spondylolthesis. I freaked out that my doctor never told me this. My back still continued to get worse. To surgeons later and I end up having back surgery. If my doctor had of opened her month earlier I could have possibly had the problem fixed without having to have my back cut open. Now I wear a brace and walk with a cane. This won't be a forever thing, but I will have screws and two metal plates in my back forever.

Get a doctor to take you serious now and find out what is wrong. If your doctor won't do anything find one that will.

Re: What is wrong with me?!!!

my mum did say that when i was a young child that a doctor once said I may have scoliosis but because it subsided it was never thought of again. she is fed up with me moaning at her and says that the best thing to do is either a) do the exercises like the doctor says or b) pay for scans and surgery etc...

this may sound like a silly question but if i go to see a back specialist will they have more knowledge than the gp? its just i went to see one and he said it would be £28 just to look at me and then further costs for surgery and scans etc....

Yes a back or spine specialist would have more knowledge then a gp. I have no idea about the cost, I didn't have to pay anything for any tests I've had or my surgery. It was all covered under ohip/insurance.

Re: What is wrong with me?!!!

I live in wigan, greater manchester. do you know anyone who would give free scan and advice/info. I am just sick of a gp who stares blankly at anything I say and then just replies with 'who knows?' as his answer!

plus I dont fancy paying £28 just for someone to look at me! I don't mind paying after he has looked at me and reckons i need a scan or surgery. Although i would have thought scans were free and surgery was not?

of course i will get a second opinion anyway.
