Bump near belly button. - General Health Message Board

I've been working out intensly for the past month an when i was walking around my home today without my shirt my mom noticed that on teh right side of my belly button it seeme likea swollen portion compared to my left side of my belly button. She said I possibly pulled a muscle or a muscle in my stomach swelled up but it got me extremly worried. I don't feel any paid or antyhing and now I notice it everytime i look in the mirror after she mentioned it. Will this die down and heal or do I need surgery or what?

Could be a hernia. Hernia's are generally painful but not always. If you look in the mirror with your shirt up and suck in and then bear down (like you are trying to go to the bathroom) and it pokes out that is a sign that it is one. I do not think that it is urgent to get surgery if this is what it is unless it is painful. If it does not go away soon i would definitely go to a doctor so they can test you for a hernia.
