ulvua problem (the hangy ball thing in the back of your mouth) - General Health Message Board

The hangy ball thing in the back of your mouth.. I think it's called the ulvua or somthing like that. But I woke up this morning and it really doesn't look swollen but it hanging down to where it is touching the back of my tongue. I don't drink and I don't smoke. nor have i been anywhere that was smoked filled. I know I do snore. but it's making a huge problem for me to swallow and I can't lay on my back cause it makes me want to gag. any suggestions?

Hi eyegore22 I have that happen to me too five years ago. I had my tonsils and Adnoids and yes my ulvua. My doctor told me that the ulvua in adults doesn't do anything so he took it out. and yes mind was touching my tongue too for me it felt like i dry spot in the back of my throat. I had a major surgery on my throat in 2000 for sleep apnea and to tell you the truth i wouldn't wish that on anyone it was so hurrible and PAINFUL! and besides it didn't help too much..

Anyway now that i scared you i need to tell you if you need surgery to take that ulvua out it won't be as bad as mind was. I hope i help some. Take Care!
