Unhappy corneal viral infection anyone?

well as most of you probably already know, I've been having a horrible time with sinus infections. Going along with that, about once a week I'll have literally blinding pain in my eyes and I can't keep them open, and when they are open, they tear up incredibly badly. I went to the er the other day.. and because I was just in agony.. and they didn't know what the ..... they were doing. First they gave me a huge shot of anti inflamitories... then a shot for a migrane (which I knew I didn't have). I heard the dr saying "she comes in here and we can never find a problem" making it sound like I was making it up or what not.. curled up on the stretcher with the lights off.. yeah, I was faking! So then someone suggests an eye doctor and he goes 'hey wait, let me see if she has anything in her eyes' so he numbs my eyes (I immediatly feel 100% better) and he puts the stuff in them and turns off the lights again and was like 'wow.. you have scratches on both your corneas... sorry it took 2 shots and 4 hours to figure that out!' so he sent me home with ointment and vicadin for the pain. I went to an eye specialist yesterday and he said that it could be a viral infection in my eyes because it keeps reaccuring. I'm not sure what would happen from there, because viruses aren't treatable? I'm wondering if once I get the sinus stuff straightened out the eye thing will go away too? I have a follow up tomorrow with the eye specialist to see what he says. It's just the timing that sucks, I just started a new job.

Re: corneal viral infection anyone?

Thank you for your concern.. it really means a lot to me. I'm going to the dr tomorrow and then I guess we'll see where it goes from there.

I just feel badly because my mom is so upset about it. I am 24 years old and always seem to have something wrong with me. But this has really gotten to her, she had to stay home from work today because she was so upset and yesterday came home to make sure that I was okay. She was actually sobbing she was so upset about what the dr said. I told her not to worry about it, this guy is a specialist and he knows what he's doing.

I should be getting to bed, my eye is really starting to bother me right now. and once it starts with one eye.. the next is usually soon to follow (guess just like mary and her lamb lol)

Re: corneal viral infection anyone?

My daughter had that a few years ago, very painful, she could not even open her eyes and the doctors get telling her it was pink eye. Finally a doctor realized this was much more as she was all swollen and eyes were shut, went to a specialist and he spent 2 hours in the office putting eye creams and drops in until they settled a bit, then he sent me home to do the same, he said if they did'nt settle down more, she would have to be hospitalized. They did settle, but she had follow up for a couple of months as there is a risk of eye damage. Shes fine, no damage thankfully. I assume if it is still only in one eye, your still early and you'll be fine. It's just that the doctors here misdiagnosed for a week or even longer, and it got really bad.

Re: corneal viral infection anyone?

I went today and he said that there had been markidly change in both eyes, and he thought the problem more to do with contact lens wear over an infection. I am on a 'lens holiday' right now as it were, until monday to give my eyes a break.
