Lightbulb Boyfriend has chromes

He is 20 years old and has chromes. I have a minimal idea of what chromes is but would like to know more about it so I can take care of him better. Anything will help out.... also he suffers from depression and use to be suicidal, does this have any effect on his illness?

Re: Boyfriend has chromes

I believe you are referring to Crohn's disease and there has been no link found to Crohn's disease and depression or suicide.

Re: Boyfriend has chromes

I really don't know how to spell it but that is what his family says he has. He use to be atleast 150 pounds but now he's just 100 pounds. He sometimes forgets to eat but not too often. According to his stepmom this disease can be quite deadly for some reason. I really don't know all the details about it except for the fact that he has to make himself eat because he's not hungry most of the time. He's been taking some meds for it but it seems to not be helping cuz he hasn't gained any weight. He told me that it is genetic yet nobody in his family has had it before. Has someone misdiagnosed him?

Re: Boyfriend has chromes

Crohns is an inflammation of the intestinal lining. First if he eats any grains especially wheat products remove from diet as gluten is a major cause of this. Secondly sooth the intestine with a good Probiotic (Kefir). You should notice improvement within a week or so. later !!

Re: Boyfriend has chromes

I do hope he is seeing a good gastrologist. crohns is a life long disease. Now a days it can be kept under better control with the newer meds. it is not deadly. But it can be very delibatating. He is not gaining weight because crohns causes one to not absorb nutrients from your food. No matter how much you eat. by getting the Crohns under control with meds he will improve. and gain some weight.
Stress does play a big part in keeping Crohns under control. Most people with Crohns do see that when they under stress the Crohns almost always flairs up also.If your boy friend suffers from depresion. Then he should seek medical help (meds) for the depression as this will help the Crohns also.
Crohns has shown to be genatic. But many people with Crohns have no family history of it.Enviromental factors ,Stress diet, and many things also cause Crohns. They has been some studies that suggest it can also be caused by the MRI vacinne.
He should be on meds. Is he taking anything?
