Red face Belly button is red, swollen and looks infected, why?

Hi just a little backround. I have been taking ginger baths, where you put 1/4 cup of ginger in your hot/warm bath and soak in it, you do this for 20 minutes to 40 minutes and it helps detox your system. I took one the day on Friday of last week. I just noticed that the inside of my belly button is red, a little swollen and looks infected. I hadn't noticed it until just now. Do you think the bath had something to do with it? I quit drinking over 3 weeks ago and my body has been adjusting but this is just to weird. I am 40 yrs old and female.

If you have any insight thanks. I know how to treat it but where did it come from? Another detoxing thing from quitting?

Thanks and sorry for the wierd post.

That is really strange. Do you have your belly button peirced or anything like that? I have never heard of anyone getting the inside of their belly button infected. Not unless there was a would of some sort in there....? How are you going to treat it?

Re: Belly button is red, swollen and looks infected, why?

sometimes my belly button gets red, sore and itchy if I wear a certain pair of jeans where the button sits right on top of my belly button and rubs.....could it be that?
