A ct scan takes a virtual slice of your body, generally in the horizontal plane. So yes, a ct scan ordered to look at bony structures in one area of the body will also show soft tissue structures in that area. The key words being "in that area." A ct scan of the head will show the skull and brain, but not the neck or anything farther down. A ct of the chest will not show the intestines. Also, adjustments may be made to show the structures that are desired clearly, which may decrease the visibility of other types of structures.
